OCR: VISION Mike Simmons Of all the animal classes birds have the highest density of visual cells on the retina. Among birds, raptors have some of the highest concentrations of visual cella and the daylight vision. The keen vision of raptors is to large numbers of cone cells which detect color. For example the African Serpent Eagle is known to have cone cell densities 2.4 times greater than those found on the human retina The cones work ir conjunction with large number of optic nerve fibers. The nerve fibere transmit visual information to the brain for interpretation.
